New Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at ZSFG Announced

Dear Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Brian B. Graham, MD as the new Chief of the UCSF Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at ZSFG.

Dr. Graham completed undergraduate and graduate school at MIT in electrical engineering.  He went on to Harvard Medical School in the health sciences and technology program, followed by residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary sciences and critical care medicine at the University of Colorado. Boarded in both Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine, he then joined the faculty of the University of Colorado Department of Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus and rose from the rank of Instructor to Associate Professor of Medicine. A clinical and research expert in the field of pulmonary hypertension, his laboratory investigates the mechanisms that link inflammation with vascular remodeling, using a model of schistosomiasis-associated pulmonary hypertension, a common cause of clinical pulmonary hypertension worldwide. His research has been recognized with several awards.  Dr. Graham has also served as an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and as co-director of the Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Clinic.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Graham to the UCSF Department of Medicine and the ZSFG community.  He will assume his new position during the summer.

I thank Lisa Murphy MD (search committee chair), Mary Gray, MD (co-chair) and the other members of the search committee, Drs. James Brown, David Erle, Antonio Gomez, Peter Hunt, Michael Lipnick, Stephen Nishimura, Dean Shephard, Gideon St. Helen, Larissa Thomas, Khai Vu, Jinoos Yazdany, and Christina Yoon, for their outstanding work over the past year.
